Non Resolutions

"Her crumpled up list of resolutions..."

Well, here it is Monday, and I’m just getting to Saturday Centus. I do so hate to get behind, but it seems to happen more than it should. Most of you know the drill, but in case you don’t, click on Saturday Centus above to learn all about it. Here’s my small story for this week.

cj hates resolutions, sees them as planned disappointments and subsequent blows to one’s self esteem.

More home cooking.

No chocolate.

No alcohol.

No unnecessary spending.

More trips to the gym.

Her crumpled up list of resolutions goes flying into the nearest trash bin.

And this is why I no longer make New Year's resolutions. And if I did, there is NO way that no chocolate would be on that list :) Kat

I got the BEST dark chocolate for Christmas, from TWO souces, and there is no way I will give that up for anyone! It is soooo good for you! I have been seriously thinking about the gym, though. And wine is good for you. And of course, we got all these restaurant gift cards.....

cj...i really love this...we have a tradition here with a "wish ball"...it is sort of like resolutions, yet different. At new year we look at the ones from last year and write new ones. I stay clear of anything too specific, and was 5 for 6 last year. Peace and blessings to you...

I loved your description of resolutions as "planned disappointments" - how true!

I really enjoyed your centus. :-)

Happy new year to you.

"Planned disappointments"... I am sooo gonna borrow that one! You put my feelings into words, I've not been able to explain why I'm so adverse to setting resolutions/goals for a new year, you helped me find the words. LOVED IT!!!!!!!

Hi cj,
This was a refreshingly honest SC!
Thank you for commenting on my bicycle-ridetext for this week's SC. (I am so behind!)
You made a comment that I addressed with a comment of my own on my blog. But in case you did not return or read it through E-mail:
Unfortunately this Centus was based very heavily on factual events. 'Thank goodness it's only fiction!!' is what I wish I could say. My future is very uncertain right now. I may or may not have time to keep up with these lovely get-togethers because of problems in my offline-life. But I'll try to keep at it as much as time permits.
Bless you cj! Take care of yourself!
Hugs,
Anna

I loved the honesty of this little story.

You have really mastered the use of 100 words...I'm thinking I'm gonna have to shake things up a little bit soon! ha!

I always enjoy reading where your imagination has taken you!

You are such an excellent communicator and a skilled writer.

Thank you for linking.

I am late reading! But you captured the frustrations of resolutions here. How many times have I stood there too...this year no resolutions, only intentions. As usual it is mid January now and I fall a little short on even those!!! :)
