Happy Birthday @ Small Stories and Stuff

Here’s my contribution to Jenny Matlock’s meme, Saturday Centus. Not familiar with this themed writing exercise? Clint on the Saturday Centus link above and find out all about it. And don’t forget to check out Jenny’s ...off on my tangent... She’s a wonderful writer. Please take time to read all the entries. You will find some very clever little stories.

I snooped in the back of his closet, having struck out in all of his usual hiding places. My birthday present had to be here somewhere. An involuntary gasp of shock escaped my lips when I opened the shoe box and saw the pointy-toed shoes...black strappy Jimmy Choos with 4 inch heels.

I envisioned us dancing at the Wellington’s Christmas party and began to configure the proper outfit in my mind. A little black dress and my ruby and diamond earrings and pendant. Perfect.

Unable to stop myself, I pulled the shoes out and tried them on. Two sizes too small! That cheating #@&*%$^!!!

Wait ‘til his birthday comes along................

That rotten so and so! The only thing worse (or maybe not) would be if they were two sizes to big and his! :D ~Ames

Maybe he just didn't know the proper size to get, what with those dainty feet and all...

Continually rooting for the underdog.

Well, just take them back and get your size! That'll show him!!!

maybe she'll take a cue from some of the other stories this week and hit him in the head with the shoes. several people also seem to have a thing for 4-inch heels this week. really? FOUR inches? that can't be healthy!

I'm so busy laughing over Cheryl's remark that I had to re-read your whole story.

I love your twisty little dark tale of shoe betrayal.

Thanks for linking.

Oh cj!
I love this text! I love the little symbols you used to keep it clean from swear words!
What a plot! The shoe betrayal!

I am very late with leaving comments on others' texts. But here I am.

You were actually the first one to leave a comment on my SC-post, which means that you should have gotten an extra link. I apologize for not doing that. The holidays were a mixed bag for me.
Could you please explain what the expression 'clutch the pearls' means?
Sometimes I don't understand certain phrases, and you would help me if you could tell me more about it.

Best wishes & hugs,
Anna
